Billboard Without Auto Scaling

Billboard can be used as a normal paragraph stack with Autoscaling turned off.

Billboard is 100% Foundation but of course will work without foundation as it becomes a normal paragraph stack.

Simply set the mode control to No Scaling (Normal Paragraph)

Every Paragraph on this page is a Billboard stack in Normal Paragraph mode.

Why Use Billboard as a paragraph?

Billboard in Normal Paragraph mode gives you two advantages in a very lightweight stack with no javascript added;


  • Opacity Text

    • and

  • Google Fonts and Custom Font Definitions

Paragraphs with an slight transparency look great when you are using a background image or pattern.

By using the effect in small measures (for example 90% opacity) the content looks more coherent, reduces glare and actually makes text more readable.

Including not only Google Fonts but also Custom fonts (EOT, TTF, WOF and SVG are all supported) allows you so specify an individual font for content independently of site styles.

Simply ensure that you type the font name precisely and select a font weight that is valid for the font (as listed on google fonts website)

You can also specify a fallback font in case the google font is unavailable and also select italic text if available for that font

You must provide a url to your font files. Ideally you should make the font available in all the formats for best cross browser compatibility
